Parfois quand on se réjouit d'aller voir un film sur grand écran depuis un petit moment, on est déçu. Même très déçu. Même très très déçu. L'histoire ne nous transporte pas, le rythme n'est pas en rythme, les personnages distants. Heureusement que dans ces moments-là le directeur de la photographie est là pour essayer de nous faire voyager hors de cette salle obscure et nous emmener vers un monde meilleur où l'esthétique prime sur le blabla des dialogues soporifiques.
Coup de projection donc sur Lance Acord, qui a fait ses armes auprès des plus grands, en passant par Spike Jonze, Malkovich, Sofia Coppola, Gondry, Sednaoui et j'en passe...
Sometimes when you're too excited of going to the movies for a specific film, you're left quite disappointed. Very disappointed. Very, very disappointed. The story doesn't make us travel, the rhythm isn't rhythmed enough, the characters feel distant.
Fortunately, in those moments, the director of photography, takes us out of that dark room to a land where estheticism leads over dull scenarios... 
Lights on Lance Acord then, who has some serious background already alongside Spike Jonze, Malkovich, Sofia Coppola, Gondry, Sednaoui and more..

Avec "Animalia", Mikel Uribetxeberria, photographe Basque, nous dépeint une nature urbaine pleine d'angoisse, dans laquelle on n'irait pas se promener le week-end pour ramasser les champignons...

On est quand même vite consolé par la force "meublante" extraordinaire qui se dégage des protagonistes...

With Animalia, Mikel Uribetxeberria, a Basque photographer, shows us an urban nature full of anxiety, in which one wouldn't walk around on the week-ends even for berry pickings...

Still, we feel quickly comforted by the extraordinary "occupying" force coming out of the subjects...

Qui aurait cru que le grand frère préféré de Napoleon Dynamite, Kip, excellerait dans un autre domaine que le combat de self-defense?

A priori Aaron Ruell, s'en sort même très bien.
Que ce soit en tant que jeune réalisateur de publicité "à connaître" - dixit Creativity Magazine (bible de la pub en ligne) - ou bien en comédien privilégiant les films indé.

Mais c'est pour ses talents de photographe capturant à merveille l'ambiance "pesante" qui règne autour de la progéniture américaine que nous parlons de lui ici.
Attention toute spécifique pour la propreté des images, et la lumière malgré tout, invitante.

Who would've tought that Napoleon Dynamite's big brother Kip, would be good at something other than self-defense?

Eventually, Aaron Ruell, is doing better than good : Creativity Magazine (online advertising bible) refers to him as nothing less than "director to know", and he is also known to be a pretty good actor in indie movies...

But it is for his photographer talents, being able to catch like no one the heavy atmosphere weighting around american kids, that we talk of him here.

Particular attention on the clean images and the light, luring after all.
